Brrrr . . . it's cold in Kentucky this morning. I took a screen shot from Weather.gov to show you the temps here. I like snow. I love accumulating snow. I don't mind the cold temperatures so much when snow is a part of the forecast. However, I'm not too fond of brutally cold temperatures without any snow whatsoever. Unfortunately, that's the state of things in Lexington right now. You don't see the temperature drop to single digits or hover around zero very often in these parts.
I do remember a brutally cold, snowy winter while we still lived on a farm. I remember riding the tractor with my dad to go pick up round bales of hay for the cattle and it was so snowy and icy, that the tractor was sliding all over the place. It was the same day we drove through three feet high snow drifts just to get to the dairy barn. Oh, and it was the very same night that the grain in the loft actually froze and wouldn't come down the grain chute. By far, that's the coldest night I remember. We started milking the cows around 4 or 5 p.m. that night and what would have taken a few hours took until 1 a.m. the next day to finish.
So, I guess I'll be hanging inside most of the day since it's too cold to do any photography or even take a walk. If we could just get some snow! I think the BCP needs a prayer for snow. Can someone work on that for me?
