Church History

Thursday Night Thoughts

Tomorrow is Friday and I'm happy about that. I've been very frustrated with WordPress and so I thought I'd spend some time testing out TypePad for fun. My readers are going to get tired of trying to figure out exactly where I am blogging now. Heck, I don't even know that for sure. I kind of hate switching things up but sometimes a change is good.

I'm reading a great book called The Four Witnesses. (Thanks Kyle.) I've been looking for a good intro. book on the Church Fathers and this seems to fit the bill. It's very readable and so far, very enjoyable! I'd recommend it to anyone who has an interest in what the early church was like. Here's an excerpt from chapter entitled Clement of Rome.

Let us fix our gaze upon the Blood of Christ and understand how precious it is to the Father, because, poured out for our salvation, it brought to the whole world the grace of conversion. Let us pass in review all the generations and learn the lesson, that from generation to generation the Master has given an opportunity for conversion to those who were willing to turn to Him.

That comes from Clement, the pastor of the church at Rome written sometime in the 90's AD. Good stuff to think about.

That's it for now. Time for bed.

Peace.
